Call for Abstracts

The Society for the Advancement of Philosophy  and the Institute of Philosophy, Zagreb are organizing the 7th edition of the ZAGREB APPLIED ETHICS CONFERENCE (ZAEC 2023) from 20 to 22 September 2023 in Zagreb, Croatia. The aim of the conference is to gather philosophers and scholars from other disciplines who will present papers on various topics in contemporary applied ethics, ranging from particular case studies to more general (foundational and methodological) considerations. In keeping with the intention to promote a rational and critical approach to, and public understanding of, the work carried out in applied ethics, we encourage clearly structured submissions adhering to the principles of conceptual rigor, soundness of argumentation and scientific accuracy.

We have the pleasure to announce that the plenary lectures at the conference will be given by Thomas Douglas (Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics, University of Oxford) and Francesca Minerva (Department of Philosophy, University of Milan).

We invite you to participate in the conference with a paper presentation no longer than 20 minutes (each presentation will be followed by a 10-minute discussion section). If you wish to present a paper at the conference, please fill in the Application Form and send it no later than 15 June 2023. Notification of acceptance will be sent to authors by 30 June 2023. The official language of the conference is English.

The participation fee for the authors of accepted papers will be EUR 50. The amount will cover the expenses of conference materials and the conference dinner. The organizers are unable to cover the expenses of travel and accommodation (useful information on accommodation in Zagreb is available at https://www.infozagreb.hr/&lang=en).

The conference is planned to be an on-site event only.
